For Ivoclar, supporting universities and their students is an essential part of the company’s
philosophy. Over the summer of 2023, Ivoclar invited the next generation of dental professionals to eight different Ivoclar Academy centers across the globe: An educational Summer School program offering supplemental learning opportunities.
Ivoclar’s Summer School program included product training, lectures by renowned experts, and professional advice on how to interact with patients and the best way to kickstart their own careers. Over five days, the next generation of dental professionals got the chance to participate in a diverse program – from workshops, to open dialogues or webinars. Also offering them the chance to connect with each other and learn from experienced members of the industry.
Ivoclar’s Summer School offers the ideal conditions for successful networking with peers and professionals. Participants can personally meet students from all over the world, get to know new perspectives, and become part of the dental community. The opportunity for students to connect is just as important to Ivoclar as providing an exciting new learning environment.
Summer School goes international.
After a successful start in 2022, the Ivoclar Summer School program expanded in 2023. The originally European-based offer went global – now including locations in North America, Asia, and yet again Europe. Students could choose freely which time and location worked best for them, coming together with like-minded students from across the world.
In total over 117 students from 28 countries participated in this year’s Summer School – making every location a success. “We are delighted and happy that the program was well received by students across the world. Ivoclar values the relationships with all dental professionals, no matter where they are on their career path. We strive to offer a diverse and fitting Academy program for everybody,” says Dr. George Tysowsky, Head of Global Training and Education, at Ivoclar Group.

Ivoclar is happy to announce that the Summer School program will continue in 2024 with new exciting locations and valuable insights. Bringing together dental professionals across the globe, students and professionals learning together and from each other – 2024 will bring additional educational content, supporting future dental professionals in their careers.

Everyone knows dental office managers are rockstars, but reading the entries to our 2023 spa-day giveaway really drives the point home! Even more than last year, we are blown away by all the ways they keep their practices rocking, rolling, and more fun than a live concert.
Again in 2023, it’s clear things run smoothly at your practices because of the rockstars running the show. Smooth operations were the most frequent shout-out for the second year in a row. Hard work, extensive skills, passion for the profession, practice, and patience all add to the harmony of a well-managed office according to our contest entries.
Based on some of the things practices wrote about their office managers, “rockstar” might be too small a compliment. These amazing people have tremendous patience, nearly permanent positive attitudes, vast knowledge, a “relentless work ethic,” and an endless supply of compassion for their coworkers and patients.
And who doesn’t love to work with someone who loves what they do? We asked office managers to tell us what they love most about their jobs, and the number one response says it all: “Everything!” This experienced, professional, and compassionate group thrives on sharing what they know, maintaining a positive work culture, and making sure patients feel like VIPs.
They even love the hard things: “The day-to-day is fun, but I love to put out the unexpected fires. I believe that’s when I do my best.” Solving conflict, calming patient fears, and getting to the bottom of a sticky insurance claim or sensitive collection issue make an office manager’s heart sing.
Many entrants simply said “My coworkers” or “My team!” and far and away, the most frequently all-capped reply was “THE PATIENTS!” Office managers are people people, and it shows. Seeing patients light up when they see a beautifully done restoration or seeing the pain leave their faces after a successful treatment really brings joy to this group of kindhearted professionals.
Truthfully, we could go on and on. And on! The enthusiasm office managers have for the profession – and the love their practices have for them – is a subject we’ll never get tired of reading about or sharing.
